I Was a Stranger

Following the critical decision of a Syrian doctor fleeing Aleppo, the film centers on the struggle for survival of people from different backgrounds whose paths cross in the Mediterranean Sea.

I Was a Stranger centers on a Syrian doctor's arduous journey across the Mediterranean waters as he and his young daughter flee the war. In the process, the fates of a human trafficker, a soldier, a poet and a coast guard captain converge. Directed by Brandt Andersen, with a cast including Yasmine Al Massri, Omar Sy and Yahya Mahayni, the film reflects the characters' conflicts between conscience, duty and compassion from an objective point of view.
