Synopsis:
Veteran director Raoul Peck's documentary about George Orwell, who as a journalist was a witness to his times, as a novelist wrote a dystopia that predicted our times, and whose political views were so controversial that his books were banned in many places, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Taking its title from the formula symbolizing political manipulation in the novel 1984, 2+2=5 presents a wealth of biographical material about Orwell, including trailers from the adaptations of 1984 and Animal Farm. The documentary draws parallels between Orwell's dystopian political ideas and various sources on the rise of fascism today, and is narrated by Damian Lewis, best known for Homeland and Billions.
