Synopsis:

The Last Ambassador of Afghanistan is the story of Manizha Bakhtari, the last ambassador of Afghanistan to Vienna when the Taliban seized power in 2021, and the story of Afghan women as well... Forced to represent a country ruled by the internationally unrecognized Taliban overnight, Manizha Bakhtari does not give up the fight and provides Afghan girls with the opportunity to get an education through the Daughters program, while organizing political resistance against the Taliban on the international stage as ambassador. Natalie Halla, who decided to make the documentary during this unlikely period, tells the world about Bakhtari's three-and-a-half-year struggle and the dramatic situation of women in Afghanistan in this documentary. In increasingly difficult circumstances, Manizha Bakhtari remains one of the most important international spokespersons for Afghan women, true to her motto: "Peace is not the absence of war, but the presence of justice."

The Last Ambassador tells the story of Manizha Bakhtari, Afghanistan's last ambassador to Vienna when the Taliban seized power in 2021, and the story of Afghan women as well.

Forced overnight to represent a country ruled by the internationally unrecognized Taliban, Manizha Bakhtari refuses to give up her struggle. Through her Daughters program, she provides education opportunities for Afghan girls and, as an ambassador, organizes political resistance against the Taliban on the international stage. Natalie Halla, who decided to make this documentary during a period, which was then not expected to last long, brings Bakhtari's three-and-a-half-year struggle and the striking plight of women in Afghanistan to the world. Despite these increasingly challenging circumstances, Manizha Bakhtari remains one of the most important international spokespeople for Afghan women, remaining true to her motto, "Peace is not the absence of war, but the presence of justice."
