Synopsis:
Urchin is an extension of the British social realist tradition from the Free Cinema movement to the present day. The directorial debut of Harris Dickinson, who attracted attention with his performances in Babygirl and Triangle of Sorrow, is a film about social injustice and inequality of opportunity... A child who starts life at a disadvantage is unable to build a future for himself as an adult and lives day-to-day... We follow the story of a character who lacks self-confidence and self-discipline, who cannot get rid of addiction and who is torn between the street and prison because he cannot hold down a job. For his performance in this role, lead actor Frank Dillane won the Best Actor award in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
