Left alone with his children after the sudden disappearance of his wife, Hicabi's grief is compounded when his young son Ali and his brother Muharrem are drowned in a stream and murdered by an unknown assailant. Life has become unbearable for Hicabi, but fate has one more trick for him; he and his daughter Gülizar, who is very devoted to him, come to a bitter crossroads. Many years pass and these secrets are revealed one by one through the retrospective inquiries initiated by Gülizar, who returns to her village as a prosecutor.
