Port and his wife Kit from New York are accompanied by their friend George on a journey to Africa. They have a strange relationship, but their only purpose in traveling to this distant continent is to have new experiences that will bring a new excitement to their monotonous relationship. When the journey ends in the Sahara Desert, these three Americans find themselves in situations that will radically change their lives.
Directed by the master Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, who has made cult films such as 'The Dreamers', 'Last Tango in Paris' and 'Il conformista', the film stars the famous actor John Malkovich.
