*Tunisian Arabic; Turkish and English Subtitles

*Lotfi Achour’s Red Path, which premiered in Locarno’s Filmmakers of the Present section, is a multi-layered film about the consequences of terrorism and ineffective counter-terrorism. On a mountainous region of Tunisia, jihadists behead 16-year-old Nizar after he enters the prohibited zone with his little cousin Achraf, and their small goat herd. The law enforcement remains indifferent to the tragedy, leaving Nizar’s helpless family to try to recover Nizar’s body on their own. Wojciech Staroń’s impressive cinematography narrates their struggle through the eyes of Achraf who is traumatized and despite his psychological torment, the poor child has to return to the scene of assault.
