*The Brink of Dreams is a coming-of-age story set in a conservative Coptic town in Southern Egypt. It’s a hope aspiring documentary about a group of young women who formed a street theater troupe to freely express themselves within a patriarchal system. They are torn apart between following their dreams and societal expectations. When its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival Critics’ Week finished, the audience stood up, beat time by clapping and ululated.
