Stray Bodies
14th INTERNATIONAL GOLDEN SCALE FEATURE FILM COMPETITION
*Greek; Turkish and English Subtitles
*Churches, political parties and NGO’s directly target consciences through propaganda, disregarding individual’s rights and freedoms, trying to manipulate their decisions. Stray Bodies explain in all aspects how people, especially women at a fragile moment of their lives, are riddled with dilemmas and suffer from this propaganda. This creative hybrid documentary follows women who are forced to travel from one country to the other, due to legal inconsistencies among the EU states concerning laws on abortion, in vitro fertilization and euthanasia. Elina Psykou accomplishes a ‘woman’s film’ underlining the autonomy of human body based on rights and freedoms, while also acknowledging legitimate controversial opinions. Like the director’s previous works, Stray Bodies has touches of the Greek Weird Wave. Besides its firm ethical approach, it is an interdisciplinary, original narrative.
