Benny's Video
Benny, 14, is a teenager alienated from his life and his family. He spends his time almost exclusively watching violent videos and filming from the window of his room with a handheld camera. As Benny's mental health begins to deteriorate day by day, his perception of reality begins to fade; he decides to make his own homemade movie, like the video he watches of a pig being slaughtered. However, this movie will also feature his girlfriend, whom he invites over one weekend when his parents are away.
"Benny's Video", the second film in a trilogy that Michael Haneke calls "Emotional Icing", depicts violence in its purest form and is a prelude to "Funny Games", which the director would make five years later.
