Portrait of a Lady on Fire

It was highly appreciated and talked about in Cannes, and was described by critics as "a first-class masterpiece... The most perfect work to have premiered this year." The film, praised for its words, tells the story of a painter's love affair with his model in the 18th century. Painter Marianne is ordered to paint a portrait of young Héloïse, who has just left the monastery and is about to get married. However, Marianne must draw this portrait without Héloïse's knowledge. To avoid this restriction, Marianne first observes the reluctant bride-to-be, Héloïse, and then gets close to her. We know director Céline Sciamma, who is inspired by female painters who have been ignored and whose works have been forgotten for centuries, with Tomboy, which she directed, and The Life of the Zucchini, for which she wrote the script.
